Xben Climbing Harness Review
The Xben Climbing Harness is more of a safety belt than an actual climbing harness. It is a versatile safety belt from Xben that encompasses safety, comfort, and strength. It is easy to use with its simple, no-nonsense design.
Who is this product for?
The Xben safety belt is more suited for work situations than for climbing. The Xben is not recommended for activities such as mountaineering. It is recommended for tower maintenance wall-form work, ladder work, rebar tying and tree climbing. The adjustable waist belt makes it suitable for most adults but will most likely be too big for children.
Included in your package is one Xben Portable Safety Belt Fall Arrest Kit, with hip pad and 2 D rings. It is a complete personal safety climbing harness. There are no extras included in your purchase.
Overview of features
The Xben safety belt is a fall arrest system that features 2 D rings located on the sides of the safety belt for extra stability. The side D ring offers you a more comfortable work position and also help ease the pressure of a fall. This safety belt has been designed to be compact, portable and lightweight. The waist belt has a simplistic design that is easy to understand, easy to wear, and easy to adjust.
It is strong enough to handle and keep you safe on a daily basis and will hold and sustain you in a certain work position and location to enable you to safely carry out tower maintenance, rebar tying, any ladder work and tree climbing. It is constructed out of durable polyester with a high tensile strength. The safety belt is low friction coefficient and has a high abrasion resistance.
The belt is flexible and can easily adjust to fit waists between 32″-50″; this is great for if you are purchasing the belt for general use around the yard and home as anyone can use it and you are not restricted to one user. It has a weight limit of 200 kg, a breaking strength of 22KN and the total width of the belt is 4.2 cm.
The waist belt has great air permeability and is sweat-absorbent and very comfortable. The hip pad provides a comfortable and versatile experience no matter where you are climbing. The Xben features a special buckle and adjustment system that adds to the safety of the harness and makes it a breeze to adjust.
How to use the most out of it
The great thing about the simplistic design of the Xben safety belt is that it makes it very easy to use. You simply place the belt around your waist, adjust to the desired size, and fasten. Before attempting any climb, always inspects your equipment thoroughly and make sure it is not showing any signs of stress or damage.
Never climb with a damaged safety belt, and replace it immediately. As with any climbing harness, it is also important to keep your safety belt clean and maintained. When cleaning, avoid using too much soap, and rather use clean water and a soft rag is possible; once cleaned hang it out in the sun to air dry.
The Xben is only a safety belt and does not have leg loops or the ability to act as a seat so you will tire quickly. The Mad Rock Mars climbing harness is a great buy. The Mad Rock has leg loops as well as a waist belt; it is affordable and will offer much more comfort over longer periods especially in work situations. Both the waist belt and leg loops are adjustable. The Mars climbing harness comes as a package deal that includes a kangaroo chalk bag with waist belt, and a chalk ball.
While safety belts are affordable and easy to use, it is important to understand how it works and how to maintain it. This will ensure your safety and prolong the lifespan of the safety belt. A safety belt that is adjustable as this one is, is a great choice to keep around the house.
It will be perfectly suited to pruning trees, trimming palms, working on the roof and more. It is an affordable choice and can be used by more than one person making it great value for your money.
